National 4 and National 5
Art and Design course in Tarbert Academy offers pupils the opportunity to express their own ideas and feelings in a wide range of media, to create designs to meet a purpose or solve a problem, and to learn more about the work of artists and designers.
These three areas:
- Expressive Portfolio
- Design Portfolio
- Question Paper
Over the duration of the Course there will be work concerned with both Expressive Activity and Design Activity, with pupil’s critical abilities developed through each of these units.
Pupils are given the opportunity to use a wide range of media, including drawing, painting, various types of printing, working with clay and computer graphics.
There is no division of the class into different Levels, allowing all pupils to maximise their abilities.
At present the Course is laid out as follows:-
- Design Portfolio with Design Studies
- Expressive Portfolio with Art Studies
- Question Paper
Assessment
National 4 is internally assessed.
In National 5, 2 portfolios and a written paper are externally assessed.
