Tarbert Academy pupils will be proud to fly their recently awarded Green Flag (when we get a flagpole!)
The assessor who came to visit us was "very impressed with the community links which the school has built up over the years and the involvement of the school in a wide range of eco activities." She was very interested in our gardening club and in the plans we have for the TAWNI (Tarbert Academy Wildlife and Nature Initiative) area where we planted hundreds of trees during our "Eco Day of Action" earlier in the year. She also enjoyed reading our evidence folders, seeing our display boards and watching the film which had been made by some of the pupils who also attend Tarbert Youth Group.
Our Green Flag status is valid for two years and we now need to work on our action plan. Our main topics for the future are : Litter (this always has to be on every action plan) Food and the Environment and Health and Well-being. This work will be linked to curricular outcomes in Maths, ICT and Health throughout the school.

We have two committees working in tandem with representatives from P1-P7 on the primary committee and representatives from S1-S6 on the secondary committee. We also have teacher and parent members serving on both committees.
We have also designed an Eco-code which is as follows:
